Can I use SSH to connect to my Container?

Yes, you can use Secure Shell (ssh) to connect to your Container.

You can connect to your Container by ssh via two methods:

1. SSH Connection link in your Parallels Power Panel
2. Using your favorite standalone SSH client

Using the SSH Connection link in your Parallels Power Panel:

To connect to the Container by ssh, you need to make sure that:
  • You are launching Parallels Power Panel in Internet Explorer 5.0 or above. SSH connection to the Container is supported by other browsers only if you have a Java Virtual Machine on your computer.
  • The Container is running. If it is not, start it on the Start/Stop Container page.
1. Login to your Parallels Power Panel.

2. Click on the SSH Connection link.

3. You will be presented with the Login and Password fields. Enter the relevant information (root or any other user name you might have created for this Container and this user's password).

4. Click on the Login button.

5. If you are doing this for the first time, your browser may display a window like this asking you to install additional components. Click Install and wait for the ssh terminal window to appear, whereupon you get connected to the Container and may start sending commands to it via ssh.

Using a standalone SSH client (ie. PuTTY):

1. Open the standalone SSH client.

2. Enter the host name (ie. vps.demo.com)

3. Click on the Open button.

4. Enter the login username (ie. root). Press the Enter key when ready.

5. When prompted, enter the password. Press the Enter key when ready.
